Frequently Asked Question About Our Wedding Photography

Q. How long have you been in biz?

A. Dmitri has been a full time wedding photographer since 2007 and Sandra since 2010. We Started as “Dmitri Photography” in 2007 and in 2011 after realizing that Sandra would not being going back to her corporate job, we rebranded as “Dmitri and Sandra”.

Q. Do you both always shoot together?

A. No. We have a 6 hour minimum for both Dmitri and Sandra to shoot together. Our 2 hour Simplicity and 4 hour Half Day Packages are serviced by Dmitri or Sandra individually. A second photographer (staff photographer or Dmitri/Sandra) is also available upon request.

Q. Could I add hours of coverage to the Packages?

A. Yes. Additional hour of coverage is available and by adding the additional hour all the items in the package are included.

Q. Will we get all the images you shoot?

A. The final photos you receive on your flash drive and in your on-line gallery will be a result of our editing process. They will include all the photos taken that meet our technical and artistic standards. In other words, we will deliver every good photo. We will often technically push the envelope as we strive to capture a unique moment or scene, resulting in some of the photos you see in our portfolio. However, we will not include those images which are out of focus, over/under-exposed, funny facial expression, eyes closed etc.

Q. How long will it take to view our images?

A. Our contract states an 8 week turn around time however on average we do our very best to release your images within 4-5 weeks of your wedding.

Q. How do you process the images?

A. We color and density correct every image that is delivered. We do not over process. We make sure that exposures, colors and skin tones are clean & consisitent throughout the event.

Q. Will you do extensive photoshop work on our images (adding skies, remove tan lines,  removing items or people, etc)?

A. No, however if there is something you really want done to your photo (within good taste of course) we do have a team of photoshopers available to us. The cost is $100 per hour to be billed in 30 minute increments for extensive photoshop work.

Q. How many images do we receive from our wedding?

A. It depends on the length of the day, the number of locations involved and the number of your guests, but you can expect about 70-85  images per hour of photographing.

Q. Can we get the RAW images?

A. Raw images are not available. All images delivered from our studio are high-resolution jpegs. Raw images are an unfinished product and we would not want to do that to our clients. You hire us to do a job and we make sure we finish the job 100%. Also, the editing process is part of our signature style and was most likely part of the reason you were atracted to our photography.

What type of equipment do you shoot with?

A. We bring 4 Canon 5D MKIII’s an several Canon prime “L” lenses from 85 mm, 50 mm, 35 mm, 200 mm, 24 mm.  4 flashes on light stands to light your reception. Transmitters and receivers for those lights and that’s about it. Being light is important for us because it allow us to move quickly and not miss important moments.

Q. What do you wear to a wedding?

A. On your wedding day, we move around a lot, we get up on things and we get down low. We run, jump or squat to get the shot if we have too. In order to do that for 4 -10 hours we do need to be comfortable. Our attire is dressy casual. Dmitri will normally wear dress pants with a button-down shirt and comfy shoes (no dress shoes with a heel because its painful after a couple hours of photography). Sandra wears pants and a nice blouse. Same thing for our staff photographers.

Q. Can we go elsewhere to photograph the couple’s photos?

A. Yes, we do this with many couples and many find this to be one of the most enjoyable parts of their day. We can plan and schedule time to shoot your wedding photos virtually anywhere you have in mind. Or, we can suggest one of the many unique locations on Maui.

Q. How far in advance are you booked?

A. We are usually booked 6-12 months in advance. The months of March, April, May, June, August, September, October and November book quickly.

Q. Are wedding albums available?

A. Yes. Wedding albums are available. Album prices range from $1000 – $2400.00. Please check out our albums here. Albums can be ordered at anytime in the months and years after your wedding however we do offer a 10% pre-wedding discount for albums ordered prior to your wedding.

 Q. How do we reserve you for our wedding?

A. Once you decide on us as your wedding photographer, the next step is to secure your date with a deposit. We will create a personal portal where you will be able to review and sign our service contract and make your deposit payment (unless taken by your wedding planner on our behalf). Once your deposit and signed contract have been received, we put you on our calendar as confirmed…wedding photography checked ✔ .

Q. Do you take credit cards?

A. Yes. Cash or Check is preferred. We do accept credit card payment with a 3% service charge.

Q. Will we be able to share our photos with friends and family?

A. Yes. We will release your images on an on-line gallery. You will be able to share this gallery with your friends and family. They will be able to view, share and order professional prints if they wish.
