December 26, 2011

Tyler and Kristine A.K.A. “The Lion and Gazelle”. What an amazing celebration! Friends and family laughed, cried and danced the night away.

Their wedding was full of cultural traditions. The Tea Ceremony honoring her chinese heritage where family heirlooms were passed down by elders along with one thousand origami cranes folded by Kristine and her mother to pay tribute to her japanese roots. Meaningful is beautiful! – Sandra

As 2011 comes to an end, and we are looking at another year of weddings ahead of us – Sandra and I sat down to chat about how we plan on staying inspired and fresh in 2012. After sorting through thousands of images from this year we found that the most powerful images to us were the more gritty, real, documentary style photos. Of course we love the beautiful portraits of the B&G and details, but there is something about seeing the story, moments, relationships and family legacy unfold as if you were seeing it through the eyes of a guest that brings real emotion to heart. For that reason we thought we would do a real, documentary style, black and white story to end 2011. Something to remind us all what weddings are truly about and why we gather to celebrate – the union of two very special people and their families! Cheers to an amazing 2012! – Dmitri

As Kristine prepared, her mother could not take her eyes off her. I could tell she took great pleasure in watching the next chapter in her daughter’s life unfold.

Kristine’s Brother sneaks a quick peak before the first look ..

The image below on the right was one of the most powerful to me. Very subtle, but so very meaningful – the contrasting texture of the two hands tells the story of age.

Their grand entrance was spectacular – seriously, there was a 5 minute standing ovation!
