A Timeless Maui Love Story at the Haiku Mill :: Michelle and Josh
April 20, 2018
Michelle and Joshua’s Maui wedding at the Haiku Mill is what wedding dreams are made of. When envisioning their perfect Maui wedding venue, they dreamed of something non-traditional yet stunning; they found all that and more within the ivy covered walls of the historic Haiku Mill. Surrounded by lush vegetation, vine-draped ruins and gorgeous gardens, the Haiku Mill is definitely one of the most visually stunning wedding venues on Maui.
As is often the case with our wedding couples, we aren’t lucky enough to get to meet each other in person before the wedding day, so we make every effort to get to know more about them and their love story through email. Michelle and Joshua’s fun personalities were evident as they recounted how they met:
As all true love stories go, Josh and Michelle met in the most romantic of settings: in a bar in downtown San Francisco. While their story does not start right away – it took another two years before they went on their first date – the time in between did not go unnoticed. There was a connection neither of them could deny. In the handful of instances when they were in the same room together, they were inexplicably drawn to each other. Just as their story started, Josh asked Michelle on their first date in the most romantic of ways…
“We should hang out.” he said.
“We should.” she replied.
And the rest is history.
The amazing team at Elements Luxury Events brought their gorgeous wedding day to life using beautiful shades of white and gold. Luxurious white orchid lei were hung from crystal chandeliers, gold Chiavari chairs were set for guest seating and elegant calligraphed signage was set to welcome guests to their celebration. While the team at Elements attended to the final touches at their ceremony location, we started pre-ceremony photography coverage with the the bride inside of the Cane House at the Haiku Mill. After a sweet first look and heartfelt ceremony, we strolled the spectacular grounds of the Haiku Mill with the couple for romantic images as husband and wife.
With the couple’s ceremony at the Haiku Mill and reception at Hotel Wailea, Michelle decided to surprise her groom with a Porsche Speedster rental for the romantic hour long drive to their reception location along Maui’s picturesque north shore. Along the way we stopped for a few more romantic images on a cliff high above the Pacific Ocean without another soul around for miles.
Their evening continued at the Restaurant at Hotel Wailea for their Modern Tropical dinner reception set for their intimate group of guests. Vintage Ivory Farm tables were topped with delicate blooms and stylish place settings; it was the perfect night in paradise and we were so honored to be a part of it all. Congratulations to the newlyweds, we wish you nothing but the best on your beautiful journey together as husband and wife.
